UPVC Locking Mechanisms come in many shapes and sizes, These can be damaged by misalignment of the actual door, If you have to use excessive force to lift the handle in order to lock your door the mechanism will fail in a relatively short period of time. If you notice the door becoming more difficult to lock or the door is starting to catch on the frame when trying to close it, have it checked and realigned ASAP, this could save you the expense of replacing the whole mechanism. Faulty uPVC locks can jam in the closed and locked position, should you find yourself in this situation (Locked in or locked out) Call a Locksmith, they will get the door open with NO damage and can often repair the fault at the same time |

UPVC doors have many security weaknesses, especially the older ones. The good news is they can be upgraded to meet today's standards or better. Insurance companies regularly update their policies including the minimum amount of security they accept on doors and windows, dont get court out! Read the small print or contact your insurance company for information. Just upgrading the handles and lock cylinder can make a huge difference to the security of your home and property. The Cisa Astral S (pictured left) and the new Astral S24 are products that have been specifically designed for much improved security and very cost effective. |

Hoppe uPVC and composite door handles Further upgrades come in the form of a new handle design that is much stronger than a standard handle, it also gives the lock cylinder protection from being attacked. |
